Team Rebel Aquatics Sanction Meet

Last weekend Shay had a swim meet at UNLV. We were so exited to swim at the college pool, we thought it was going to be a really neat experience. UNLV's pool sucks. I know where not to send Shay to college if she continues swimming.......anyway......

Shay kind of struggled at this meet. Especially Saturday. She would not eat her pasta dinner the night before, she would not eat breakfast, she wouldn't drink instant breakfast, she had nothing to do with any of the snacks we packed for her. Nothing. She didn't have the energy and she wasn't feeling well. After the meet we had a serious talk with her about nutrition and energy and even when you have a nervous tummy you have to make yourself eat. She did MUCH better on Sunday.

She ended up placing in three of her six events. She took 3rd in her 100 meter Breast stroke. 6th in both 50 and 100 meter Back stroke. Considering everything, she did a great job. I was very proud of her.
This was the last long course swim meet for the season. In September the short course season begins. I am looking forward to seeing how well she does with that. I think she will do much better since she practices everyday in the 25 meter lanes. She is awesome at her flip turns and I know she will shave off some time just from that!

Oh Chopper!

I seriously love this dog!
Sometimes he is SO annoying but then he does something cute and it's so hard to be mad when he does something wrong. He's lucky he's cute or he would get beat......I'm not kidding!

Back when we were still living in the apartment I let him go out on the porch for some fresh air. He still likes to chew on everything so it was my fault that I didn't put the chairs away first but I really thought they would be ok. Anyway, I caught Chopper chewing on the chair cover and when I yelled, CHOPPER! He whipped his head around and the bungee came out of the chair cover and flipped over his nose. I told him to get in the house and go lay down. I called him a naughty dog and pointed to the couch.

This is what he did. I'm not sure if he really knew how mad I was or if this was just a cute coincidence but I couldn't be mad any more.
He buried himself under the pillow and covered his eyes with his paw. How can you be mad at that?
He always jumps up on the couch and pushes the pillows onto the floor so he can sleep on them. It drives me crazy! I'm always picking up couch cushions. But I never yell at him for it. I actually enjoy when he's just laying down.
Since we have moved into our house I have found him in the strangest places.
He has the craziest personality. He drives me insane, he makes me happy, he ticks me off and he makes me laugh.

I can't imagine anything better!

Birthday Party's

Most importantly WAAAY back in May was Britton's 11th Birthday! Mom, Dad and Shane came in town to spend the day with him.
Britton hates cake and frosting so we went with doughnuts.

And of course he got incredibly spoiled!! Happy Birthday Bud, you are VERY loved!

The kids have been going to a lot of Birthday party's as well. People around here go all out. They spend so much money on Birthday party's and make them big and extravagant. People who give gifts go all out to. I have seen kids get gift cards from friends for $40 plus. CrAzY!! Guess we are going to be the odd ones out. I think $20 is more then enough to spend on a present.
Any way Shay was invited to Ashley's party.

Ashley had a spa party. All of the girls got manicures and pedicures and ate pizza and had a dress up and dance party. It was so much fun for the girls. Shayna had a blast!
She was also invited to Laurens party. Britton was invited too! I was so thankful. I got a full day to myself to box up the apartment. It was wonderful! They got to go to a waterpark!
Britton was invited to his soccer friends birthday party. Austin also invited Shayna which was very nice of him.
They went roller skating. Shayna was awesome at it. Britton struggled at first (he wasn't the only one) but once he got the hang of it he had a ton of fun.
We have been having a lot of fun so far this summer. It's going by WAY to fast.

House updates!

After WAY too long of apartment living....our house is finally done!! Turning my keys into the office was one of the best day's of my life! Here are some photo's since the last time I blogged about the house.

The HOA fee's that we have to pay cover the cost of the front yard. We don't have to do anything with it. They take care of everything. It also covers the guard at the gate and the swimming pool upkeep......I LOVE it. I don't love how small our yard is and I was really dreading that but it hasn't been as awful as I thought it would be. Anything is better then what we came from.

Here are some pic's of the inside. Some are from before we moved in and some are after. We still have soooooo much to do!

Britton's Bedroom. (a small portion of it anyway)

My laundry room.

Before:
After:
I LOVE my laundry room. This is the first time that I have had a laundry room with it's own space. It even has a sink. I do a TON of hand washing with all of Shay's swimsuits.  I can't describe my love for this room!
And I love my new red washer and dryer more then anything!

Shayna's bedroom:
She has a huge closet and her room is quite large too. Lucky girl!
As you come up the stairs and turn to the left the kids have a play room. As you can see in the picture below. The door at the end is going in to Shays bedroom
This is the view at the top of the stairs. On the right is the kids bathroom and on the left is Brittons bedroom. To the left of Brittons bedroom is the play room and Shay's room.

The stairway.
Master Bathroom.
Kitchen/Living area.
I didn't get a picture of the main bathroom, my bedroom, or the office or the guest bedroom but they are there and I LOVE them.
I'm so happy to be home and I can not wait until we are completely done un-boxing things. Then the painting begins. YIPPY!

And just to make everyone feel really sorry for us.......
That was the temperature on moving day. MISERABLE!!

Thank you Jase for all of your help moving us. I don't know what we would have done without you. You really are an awesome Cousin!! Ty will get you on that Helicopter ride soon!!

Last day of school!

June 5th was the last day of school for my kiddo's. On June 4th Britton had his 5th grade promotion ceremony. It KILLS me that he is going into Jr. High next year. It doesn't seem possible.

And of course he graduated with honors and is in mostly honor classes next year. Way to go Britton! We are so proud of you!!

Swim News!

We have been keeping VERY busy with the Swim Team. Shayna goes to practice EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! She does get Saturday and Sunday off, unless there is a swim meet going on. If that is the case she swims 7 days a week. She loves it so much and never complains. She is excited to go to practice and HATES when she has to miss. She doesn't miss often. Only when she is sick. I know she loves it so much because of the girls that she has met. She has met two of the most amazing little girls. They get along so well. It surprises me because I have never known three girls to get along so well. Usually one is left out. Not in this case though. They are such great girls. And they have awesome family's too. It makes it a lot easier for me to sit at the pool everyday when I know I have great people to visit with.

On May 31st the Multigen Center (Where Shay swims) hosted a Relay party. They got to get in teams and swim relay's and eat pizza. These are her BFF's Lauren and Ashley at the Relay party.
June 15th and 16th she swam in the JAG Qualifier swim meet hosted by the Multigen Center. This was her very first Sanction Meet. These are the meets that count. It's not meant for practice like the Novice meets are. You can actually be disqualified. She was sooooo nervous but she ended up doing great! Can you believe Shayna is the oldest...haha!

She took 6th place in freestyle, 3rd place in backstoke and 3rd place in breaststroke. AWESOME!!
On June 21st she was in a Novice swim meet at Whitney Ranch. She took 6th in her Breast stroke and 8th in Freestyle.

On July 12th she was in another Novice meet where she got 6th in backstroke and 7th in Butterfly.

On July 13th she was in the LVSC Relay Meet. In the relay meets you are picked randomly and put on teams. Shay and her friend Ashley were on the same team! Unfortunately Lauren was put on a different team but good thing for her....she was put on an awesome team and they took 1st in everything!

The first three ribbons in this picture are from the relay meet. Shay's team took 3rd in everything. They did a fantastic job! The other two ribbons are from the novice meet the night before.
I'm so glad we finally found a sport that Shayna is passionate about. It took a while but I think she is in swimming for the long haul!
